"I never learn anything talking. I only learn things when I ask questions." - Lou Holtz

This pic seemed appropriate given that I'm at a pastors' conference in MI.
Where it's been snowing all afternoon. On April 22.

Once again, a busy, stimulating day. Alas, not the conference sessions, which have lived down to my expectations, but the interactions before and after.
I drove to Holland again, for breakfast with another of my students. Both Jeff & Brian were older than typical college age at the time which probably has something to do with the connection we made now and the ease with which we pick back up again.

I got back for the end of the first and all of the second of two morning sessions (irrelevant and poorly executed) but had two conversations between them that may lead to some interesting possibilities. Then I went to lunch with three guys who were students together, in my Ministry Studies division, and are now colleagues. We talked shop with great intensity, ripped on each other just as energetically, and commiserated about the frustrations of our calling in the current zeitgeist.

My body is still on AZ time - three hours different - and caffeine isn't doing the trick. I will leave Friday morning to head back west. Yeah, just about the time....

I'm driving a Dodge Dart, the cheapest option available. Very few bells and whistles, but the four cylinder engine is surprisingly quick. Never mind how I know, just take my word for it; the car responds briskly to a fully depressed throttle. And cornering is surprisingly sure footed. The gas tank must be tiny because even with only occasional and moderate hooning the needle drops quickly. The flip side: it won't cost much to fill it up.

It's 8 p.m. here, I'm eating "food" at McDonald's, and then I'll head to Norders'. Jim S. did a very good job with his presentation in the evening session. He's good.

And more networking before and after. That alone is worth the price of admission (which is covered by Pathway).

I gotta get my news fix on. So excuse me while I zip through my bookmarked sites to find out what's going on in the world WHILE I'M HERE FREEZING!
