From a friend's Facebook page
I listened to one of the two DirecTV classical music channels this afternoon while I worked on Sunday stuff.
- A CD titled German Overtures must weigh about 46 pounds. No German ever wrote anything light, especially not Wagner.
- The bassoon can be, methinks, the most whimsical instrument in the orchestra.
- Carl Ditters von Dittersdorf, besides having the most fun name in all of classical music, wrote some easy stuff. And by easy I don't mean it's simple, but that it's easy to listen too, thoroughly enjoyable. The kind of music you'd want to listen to during a busy commute.
I raised the white flag, threw in the towel, tapped out. I've given up trying to figure out how to get that forklift switch to work. A restoration shop downtown sells an ignition switch for this truck with a V8 that I will go get tomorrow. I'll shell out $55, but I'll be able to turn the key and - assuming I've got everything else wired correctly - start an engine. The only difference in switches is that this V8 switch will start like your car does; turn the key one notch to the right ("run") and then another notch ("start") to engage the starter. Once the engine is running release the pressure and let the key go back to that "run" position. The six cylinder version of the truck like mine only had the "run" position. You turn the key that one notch to the right and then use your right foot to press down on a big steel button on the floor to engage the starter. It's called a stomp starter for obvious reasons. I *think* that means my only modification will be omitting any wires from that "start" terminal on the back of the switch. Maybe.
We hit 97 this afternoon. That's why I was inside working on church stuff. Tomorrow through the weekend: warmer still.
Spring??
A friend on FB posted the question, "If Facebook costs money would you still be a part of it?" The answers were overwhelmingly negative. In fact, I was the only one on the list who answered yes. I value the contact it allows me to have with former students and friends from churches we've served who now live far away. As in Thailand and Papua New Guinea. And Alabama!
I watched the NFL draft through about the first 10 positions but after that it got to guys I've never heard of. And teams I don't care about. I'll read later tonight who the Seahawks and Cardinals drafted.
