"I invented the cordless extension cord." - Steven Wright

"Even the Man of Steel needs a potty break sometimes."
(This is the son of a friend on Facebook, and her post from this morning.)

I'm frustrated with the final steps of the truck's wiring. Because I don't have an original ignition switch, and because I do NOT understand automotive wiring, I can't figure out how to make this "forklift" switch work. I post questions on the Chevy truck restoration forum and the guys who respond talk in a foreign language; I can't understand what they're saying because their responses are full of tech talk.

We're headed to triple digits before the week's done, and that has me feeling under the gun to get this project wrapped up. It's simply too hot to work anything past 8 a.m. by the time summer is fully underway. And that's soon.

I was up at Starbucks today working on Sunday and was again struck by the number of people driving very large vehicles. Big trucks, large Suburban-type SUV's, and the like. You can tell by the pristine condition of the pickups that they're not used for hauling anything more than bread and dog food. I'm guessing if I followed them home they'd pull up in front of 3,000 square foot homes with three and four bedrooms, as many bathrooms, and large dining rooms with 9' ceilings. It's the American way of late. Relative prosperity has allowed us to have more - more space to fill up with more stuff, often purchased with more credit.

On my way home I stopped down the street to see the old guys who hold court out in front of Marvin's house every day from 10:00 until noon. I needed to touch base with Noel, one of the regulars, about helping him get his house summer-ized in preparation for their trip back to Minnesota for the summer. They're leaving Friday so I'll go there tomorrow afternoon to get everything taken care of.

While there they asked about our plans to build a tiny house some day. Half of the group of six think it's a crazy idea and the others thought it makes sense. "I wish I could do that." I think it makes special sense at our age. Why continue to amass "stuff" that our kids will have to go through and dispose of? We don't need it and don't use it, like half the square footage in our house.

Bigger isn't better; less is more.

The Roy Orbison tribute scheduled for the Sun City concert stage has been cancelled. Bummer. I was really looking forward to that.
Yeah.
