MATH - the only place where someone can buy 64 watermelons and nobody wonders why.

I want to be the first guy, not the last.

This evening was our neighbors' annual taco party. It's a very gracious, hospitable thing for them to do, and they host it from food to drinks. It is also a reminder of just how old the residents of Sun City are. The average age of the 30-40 people in attendance was a two digit number, but it started with a seven, maybe an eight.
As the guy I sat next to put it, "Most of these people are 'nose pointed down.'"

After grinding all the thin set off yesterday, today's to-do list included two coats of Porch & Floor paint on the walk from the driveway to the front door. It turned out well and looks smooth and clean. And it makes me think I really need to do the driveway, too. Those epoxy paint stains didn't grind off like I'd hoped, and the contrast between the driveway and walkway looks like the definition of incongruous.

I also worked a little on the truck between coats of paint. Didn't get much done, but my goal is to get some of the smaller misc. parts installed so that I don't have so much clutter when I start installing the mass of wires awaiting me. So today I got some of the weatherstripping installed.

That quote up there - I chose it from several options because it fit one of the things I worked on this morning.
Naaman took 6,000 shekels of gold with him on his trip to Samaria. The footnote in my Bible says one shekel is 2/5 of an ounce. OK, so how many pounds of gold is 6,000 shekels?
I spent waaay too long trying to figure that out and gave up. I sent friend Sue, a homeschool mom, an email asking her to figure it out.
Hey, what good is it having nerdy homeschooling friends if they can't help you out with math problems?!
Turns out it's 150 pounds worth of gold which, at today's rate, is over $2.6 million.

I've been watching bits and pieces of The Masters coverage and it's pretty good. I'm a Phil Michelson fan and he's got a shot at this tomorrow. But Jordan Spieth is playing crazy good golf.

Tomorrow should be interesting. My sermon is what in homiletics class we called "experimental," but that just means it doesn't conform to the normal structure. Could be interesting and effective or a crash & burn.
And it's also extemporaneous (no notes). Working without a net.

So if I'm not here tomorrow night....
