"Things may come to those who wait, but only the things left by those who hustle." - Abraham Lincoln

From a friend's Facebook page.

I was listening to one of the DirecTV classical music stations when Pam got home last night and it was playing Wellington's Victory by Beethoven. Cool piece that very effectively pictures the battle of Vittoria between British and French forces. Beethoven wrote it for a double orchestra facing each other on stage. It's 15 minutes long but sometime you should listen to it; you'll recognize a couple of the musical lines, including, Rule BrittaniaGod Save the King and For He's a Jolly Good Fellow, which started out as a famous French tune.
Even in Beethoven's day the piece was criticized as unsophisticated drivel. Beethoven's response: "What I sh*t is better than anything you could think up."
great line.

This afternoon I had my appointment with the tech from St. Jude's, the company that made my pacemaker. I go in every six months for an appointment that takes about 15 minutes. John - nice guy! -  downloads some data from the device, puts it through a couple of diagnostic checks and sends me on my way. This time I was there for over an hour. Good thing I was his last appointment of the day.

Fascinating! I learned a whole bunch of stuff about episodes I've had over the last few years and about cardiac events I don't even remember. As an added bonus I had an arrhythmia while I was sitting there that he watched happen on his laptop.
"Are you feeling that?"
Uhm...yeah, I guess I do.
He asked how often that happens and I don't really know. If he hadn't asked about it I would have ignored that fluttery feeling, so maybe I have them all the time...or almost never.
He reprogrammed my pacemaker so that if/when it happens again the device will make it stop.

I talked with him about the best way to find a new cardiologist when we move to Oregon and he gave me some helpful suggestions. He also downloaded on to my pacemaker some documents the dr. who installed it wrote up about what happened during the procedure. So now, when I go to that new cardiologist he'll have them right away. Crazy!

I called Pam as I was leaving the office and we met at Carumba's for dinner and just got home...in time for Father Brown on PBS. You should check it out.
