Being a parent without a sense of humor is like being an accountant who sucks at math.

I thought dogs were supposed to clean up after themselves when they hurled on the floor.

I cleaned the Kia this morning and started getting things together for our trip to Oregon. I have all the tools I think I'll need in a pile on the garage floor and almost everything else loaded into the teardrop. I left one side of the teardrop clear so I can crawl back there for a nap along the way. When we get to our eventual home we'll sleep in MoHo on our inflatable queen size air bed.

I don't understand the prosecution of Dennis Hastert. The sexual crimes he's purported to have committed have long since expired under the statute of limitations, so he can't be prosecuted for those. They say he paid a boat load of money to keep the allegations quiet, but inasmuch as he couldn't be prosecuted for the purported crimes anyway that can't be illegal. It doesn't violate any laws to give someone money in order to keep them from saying bad stuff about you.  If anything it comes closer to extortion, or at least an "out of court settlement." They say he made withdrawals calculated to stay just under the $10,000 threshold that requires banks to report to the feds. So? The govt. decided where that line was, he stayed below it, so where's the beef?
They say he lied to the FBI about what he was doing with the money. Got it. You're not supposed to lie to the feds, so if he did they've tagged him on that one. But if the feds were after him on bogus grounds, as seems to be the case, should a judge smack Hastert or the FBI?
This looks to me like a politically motivated prosecution aimed at discrediting a now-retired party big-wig, and I wonder if there isn't a grudge somewhere behind all of this.

They make cars out of plastic now. It's cheaper, lighter, doesn't rust, and it's easier to work with. Bumpers and grilles are now body color and bolts are invisible. Making parts out of chrome is time consuming, expensive, heavy (mpg), and it will pit and rust with age.
It's also beautiful in a way plastic can never achieve.
I put the bumper on today.

They passed out 3x5's at our fellowship time Sunday and asked the people to write things they liked about Pathway, something they would miss, a fond memory.... They gave me the stack as we were leaving.
I read through them this afternoon.
Please believe me that I was especially pleased to see that the vast majority spoke of the sense of community, care, and service within and without.
Forgive me if I think the decision to close Pathway was a mistake.

But it is closed, so today I did some housekeeping. You'll notice the logo, links, and mention of Pathway are gone from the column to the right. The stack of visitor cards are in the recycle bin and the window decals in the trash. I need to go through my hard drive, too.
heavy sigh
