"Never lend your car to someone to whom you've given birth." - Erma Bombeck

We'll work on these smaller goals before we try the moon.

No, Jen, I didn't clap.
It was just what we expected and more. Just before the service started a robed choir of about 75 entered from the left and five guys in suits came to sit in high backed chairs on the platform. There were hymnals in the pews but we didn't use them, instead singing off a Power Point presentation projected on to the two front walls to either side. All the songs were "contemporary" if that term means choruses from the 70's. Bill Gaither throw-back. The pastor is on vacation so the sermon was given by a missionary...who should stick to missionarying.
The people were very friendly, several identified us as visitors and were especially welcoming, and I only saw one near accident leaving the parking lot.
It's exactly what that congregation of people 70 and older want, need, and should have.

We went to the 8:15 service and had arranged to meet the family in town for lunch, so in between we came home and I cleaned the lily pond. I've got a pump that empties it pretty quickly, and as that was going on I scrubbed the sides and clipped off all the old leaves and blossoms. Sure hope the lilies respond to my hatched job pruning by coming back with lots of fresh new growth. We list the house in just over 60 days.

I forgot to mention...
Because the drive from here to Oregon includes long stretches with no good radio stations - Spanish language and country western music aplenty - I get books on CD from the library to keep my mind occupied while I work my way across the desert and up the central valley of CA. On the way to Oregon we listened to a forgettable James Patterson novel. I don't remember the title, plot, or anything else about it except that it wasn't quite long enough.
On the way home it was John Grisham's Gray Mountain. It was published in 2014. Very good. I recommend it on paper or CD.
It's easy to figure out Grisham's view on some key legal topics as you read his books, but I'm OK with that. I always learn about an issue. The King of Torts is especially good in that regard.

Tomorrow I'll take our bedroom door off and sand a bit off the top edge so it closes like it should. I'll also work on the truck and WILL NOT QUIT until I have doors that close properly. At 12:30 I have an appointment at Verizon to switch our service over so we can have coverage at the place in Oregon. And I gotta get back to the gym. Just this short time away has appeared on the scale, and the sooner I get back into the routine the easier that re-entry will be. Burn up those calories!

The calories I'm now going to consume in the form of the brownies Pam made that go, oh so well with a cup of coffee.
