"Of all the 36 alternatives, running away is best." - Chinese proverb

You just have to be a step faster than the slowest guy. (Or the guy who falls down.)

I can never remember how to spell mnemonic.

I couldn't see any point in laying there awake so I got up, showered, and was on the road by 2:30 a.m. Turns out you can do the speed limit all the way through Seattle, Tacoma and Olympia if you leave at that hour of the morning. I stopped once for gas, at McDonald's for breakfast, a 20-minute nap south of Portland, and was home by 9:00.

I called Delta with a couple of questions about my flights to NY and got a recording telling me the wait time to speak to a representative was two hours. What???
I'll call at 3 a.m. tomorrow when I get up.
The question: I fly from Eugene to Seattle and from there to NY, with a 35-minute layover between those flights. What are the chances my suitcase is going to make it to the second flight? The option is to ship what I would otherwise put in a suitcase and have it there waiting for me. I called UPS and learned I'd pay $60 for an 18"x18"x18" box that weighs 30 lbs. (I picked those numbers at random.) And it takes a full week to get there shipped UPS Ground. It's a LOT more expensive for the next fastest option - 3-day. Hmmmm.
I'll probably take a suitcase. If it doesn't show up it's Delta's problem to solve, not mine. I'll just make sure I have a change of clothes and toiletries in my carry-on.

Shortly after leaving Seattle I got an email that Amazon had reviewed my cover and text files for one of the books so I ordered a physical copy so I can do a proof. The online version using their viewer looks good so I'm cautiously optimistic. I'm still waiting for an email about the other book. It's now 2 hours past the 24 hour turn-around they say they need so I'm getting impatient.

I'm also getting sleepy. Could be because I've been up a little longer than I should have.
