"Because of their size parents may be difficult to discipline properly." - P.J. O'Rourke
Years ago the NBA pulled The Seattle Supersonics and moved the team to Oklahoma because it rains too much in the northwest. They were going to move the Portland Trailblazers too but nobody cares enough about that team to get another city to take them.
Seattle is still mad about losing their NBA team and is trying to get another one. The big question: what to name any team that comes to Seattle?
The name Supersonics (usually just called the Sonics) was a nod to Boeing, the largest employer in the Seattle area when the team started in 1967. Now people know Seattle for Amazon and Microsoft, which suggests:
The Seattle Nerds
The Seattle Geeks (unfortunately, Geek Squad is already taken)
The Seattle Techies
SIMMOMs (Self Indulged Millennials Making Obscene Money)
And think of the mascot possibilities.
I got a lot done today and am set up to get several projects done tomorrow.
One of my projects today was to write a rather lengthy response to a question I got via email. It was from the son of a couple in our church in Michigan. He was barely a teenager then so he's probably in his mid-30's now. It made me feel good to get his question both because it was a good one and because he felt sufficient connection to his childhood pastor to ask it.
Epistemology and hermeneutics.
Yeah, it was a good question.
This is a short post. I worked pretty much until it was time to leave for small group. Because Pam's still in AZ I went by myself. Because we start with a potluck dinner together I brought Salad For Dummies - two bags of a salad kit. This is an example of the things that happen when Pam leaves town. I get lots of work done but I definitely suffer in the culinary department.
Now home from small group and with a cup of coffee and some cardamom toast in my belly it's time for bed.
I'll do better tomorrow night. Promise.
