"He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow." - George Eliot

I like it!

My days have been all about getting ready for the new stove. That involves work best done while Pam's in AZ so I've been pushing it pretty hard all day each day since she left.

I started about 7:30 this morning after breakfast (BACON!) removing the paneling along the north wall. It had been installed by the factory using both staples and adhesive so getting those panels off was not a ton of fun.

By 11:00 I had it all off and loaded into my trailer (along with some other debris) and took it to the dump. I uncovered an empty hornets' nest inside the wall under where the clock hung. I don't know HOW they got in but I'm sure glad they never got inside MoHo and had relocated by the time I took off the paneling in that spot. That would have been a problem!

I went from the dump into Lowe's and loaded the trailer up with five sheets of 3/8" drywall, tape, and mud. Got lunch at McDonald's because I knew if I came home, fixed my own lunch and sat down to eat it I wouldn't get up from my chair. Besides, I was hungry!

By 6:30 I had the drywall hung. lt was more difficult than it should have been because of the way MoHo is designed. The point where wall meets ceiling is weird and they put these faux beams I had to cut around. (Have I mentioned I hate faux _____?) Tomorrow I'll do the taping, do the second coat of mud Friday and the third Saturday. Then prime and paint, which will get me to the point I can install the ember barrier for the new stove.

I've taken Ibuprofen, had the goulash Pam put in the freezer for me, and will now settle in with hot coffee and cardamom toast. Pam gets in about 9 p.m. and I hope to have the taping done, the new bathroom window trimmed out, and the place all cleaned up. (It looks like a construction zone now.)

I had planned to write about last night's small group gathering and share some thoughts on a couple news stories but I'm tired and my hands hurt.
Maybe tomorrow, eh?
