"Everybody was saying we must have more leisure. Now they are complaining they are unemployed." - Prince Phillip

As I type this I'm listening to Wagner's "Ride Of The Valkyries" on our DishTV classical music channel. Which reminds me that.....
I was in the habit of playing the local classical music station on Saturdays when the boys were young. I remember that as part of the weekly routine from when I was a kid. Dad played classical music on Saturday mornings and as an adult I looked back and thought that had been good for me. I decided it was worth repeating as a parent.
One particular Saturday Steve asked, "Why are you guys listening to cartoon music?"

It's a sad commentary on our culture that most readers of this blog won't understand his question.
Many of the cartoons of the day used classical music behind the action scenes so he associated classical music with cartoons.

"Ride of the Valkyries" is known to many (most?) as "Get the Wabbit" from Bugs Bunny.
Today's cartoons about super heroes don't get classical music.

I've thought about that Metropolitan several times today, for whatever that means.

I think we're on kidding watch. Sundae has "dropped." She now has a hollow on either side of her backbone at her hips, an indication that at least one of the kids has dropped into the birth canal. We're still four days out from her due date but I'm going to keep a close eye on her until Thursday and will be surprised if she lasts that long.
It takes the poor girl several minutes and a whole lot of effort to get up from laying down and this morning she wasn't particularly interested in eating. Marta says all of that points to action as soon as within the next 24 hours.

<  Saw this on FB a couple of days ago. Too much truth here.

I got the third coat of drywall mud on this afternoon. Tomorrow I'll sand (oh boy!) and then do a final mud on any areas that need it. I hope to prime and paint Tuesday and then lay out the ember barrier for the new stove. I have the cement board and the tiles and that should go quickly.

I also ordered a new distributor for Sally today. I've had a persistent problem with the carb that had me going crazy. When I take my foot off the pedal the idle doesn't drop down like it should. If I "blip" the throttle it always comes down to where it belongs but never does so without that blip. I've duplicated that under the hood while watching the carb linkage. It's "bottomed out" when the idle is high and doesn't change when I blip the linkage. And the throttle plate is fully closed in both situations.

One of the older guys at church put me in touch with a carb guru he knows from their time at the drag strip and he diagnosed it immediately. The problem isn't the carb, it's the distributor. The vacuum advance isn't returning unless it's jarred by that blip. Hence, a new distributor. Genius!
I sure hope this fixes it 'cause I don't have another plan.

It's now 8:30 (I stopped while we ate dinner - some very good goat meat) and I just got back up from checking on Sundae. I'm still a relatively newbie at this but I can't imagine this goes on much longer. Her breathing is labored but I see no signs of contractions yet.

I'll go down throughout the night to check on her. It's dark in there so her kids don't know what time of day it is. If they did I'm sure they'd wait until morning.
