"Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to a teenager." - P.J. O'Rourke
Oh my. I don't do this very well at all. I've been praying all day and working to obey the fifth commandment.
Given the differences in our dispositions I may be adopted
At the moment I feel like I'm juggling chainsaws, mostly because I'm talking online with a guy in Camas, WA (15 miles east of Vancouver in the SW corner of the state) about buying a 1968 VW Karmann Ghia. At this price it's either the deal of the decade or a sinkhole. If after some more back and forth things look at all promising I'll stop on the way home tomorrow to look at it. If it's as described I'll leave a deposit and go back next week to pick it up.
It could be a straight flip - pull it home and list it right away to turn a quick and modest profit. Or I could put some time and limited money into it and make a handsome profit. Ghia's don't bring what VW busses do but they're still relatively rare and sought after. And I know VW's.
Truth be told, I almost wish this hadn't popped up but given the price the guy's asking blowing it off without at least giving it a look almost seems irresponsible.
There's a fine line between confidence and foolhardiness. "Lord, give me wisdom."
I'll go to church here tomorrow morning. It's always good to be back in the place where I grew up spiritually and I enjoy seeing people I've known since childhood.
After church I'll come back for lunch with mom and my brother and then hit the road for home. I'm hoping that on a Sunday that is also Mother's Day the traffic will be light all the way home. IF a stop in Camas is part of the trip it will be an hour or so longer than usual.
OK, that's it. I'm exhausted from doing nothing all day. When your hangin' with someone who's 95 the level of activity is a lot less than what I'm used to and I've found the tempo excruciating. I want to stay up until she's out of the shower because I worry about her safety even though she says "I do fine." But at the moment she's out in the kitchen washing grapes I just got her from the store and I'm pretty sure she's washing them individually.
And don't EVEN ask what else she had my buy while I was out.
"Things I never thought I'd ask a store employee to help me find."
