"It's easy to make a buck. It's a lot tougher to make a difference." - Tom Brokaw

Pam is SUCH a grammy.
Jason, Steve & Michelle's oldest, is graduating from preschool this month. Call me a curmudgeon (you wouldn't be the first) but the notion of "graduating" from preschool seems slightly silly, like a parallel to the participation trophy for an origami workshop. Who doesn't advance out of preschool?
Grammy is, nonetheless, moved to acknowledge this accomplishment. Today's outgoing mail includes a graduation card....for a kid who can't yet read.
I have no doubt that Jason is going to grow up to be a remarkable individual. His parents are both bright hardworking people who are doing a great job of parenting both of their young 'uns. But when he's made his mark in the world I doubt he'll look back on his preschool graduation as a defining moment along his career path.

I went into town with Pam this morning. While she was at women's Bible study I worked at Starbucks and then had a good conversation with Brett, our pastor, when he was done with a dr. appointment. Good shop talk.

When we got home just before noon it sure looked like Sundae was in labor. I sat with her for about an hour and then decided nothing required my presence and she was going to be at it for awhile. So I came inside and worked on the stove's ember barrier. I got it all laid out, got the cement board cut, and marked the tiles for cutting.

It's now 7:45 and she's still struggling. Poor Marta has been very sick with a stomach virus and can barely manage to get out of bed. I've talked to her on the phone and online and she's says Sundae is "going slow." Her water hasn't broken yet and that's the next big step.

I'll keep checking on her every 30 minutes or so and hope that she makes progress fairly soon. I'm concerned that she not work too hard and get exhausted beyond a safe condition.

Hope to have a great post for tomorrow night, including pictures of adorable newborns.
