"I'm so ugly. I worked in a pet shop and people kept asking how big I'd get." - Rodney Dangerfield.

I don't know if my life is all that hectic or if I'm managing it poorly. Retirement is busy!

Yesterday we had two moms from our small group bring their kids out to see our kids. Kristen brought along a friend who moved here from Osaka, Japan two years ago and who also has a newborn. Apparently Osaka is wall-to-wall people and this gal had never been in a rural setting like ours. It was fun to watch her reaction to baby goats, chickens running looses, a big veggie garden...
As they were leaving she said, "This is my dream."

Another family from our small group is coming out Sunday afternoon.
If you want to be popular have baby goats around.

We need a word for when you do something that is right and good. I think our life on Baker Rd. where we live simply and do a modest (!) "farm-to-table routine is _____.
I've used the word righteous but that suggests it falls in the realm of good/evil. It's about doing what God intended, living in a way congruent with his design and intent. Not consumed with consumption or possessions, but keeping it simple and tied to nature.

Sometimes I/we have an opportunity to do something that's right - again, not in the moral sense but that causes things to be as they should be. Most recently it was something that helped out one of our sons and served as the expression of the family bond. Again, what God intended, congruent with his design.

The Hebrew word mitzvah means commandment but it's also used to describe "A good deed done from religious duty." So that word doesn't really work.
I'm taking submissions.

We weigh the kids every week to track their progress. It also serves to alert us to anything that might be wrong.
Cannoli gained 3 pounds, Donut gained 1.8 pounds, and Eclair is up 2.4 pounds. I'm surprised at the difference between Cannoli and Donut, but anything in the area of 2 lbs. is good at this stage. As they get older the rate of gain will increase.

Roseanne tweeted something that was socially deaf and either stupid or racist. The latter would be consistent with earlier statements on record.
Samantha Bee used a crude word to refer to Ivanka Trump, the President's daughter.
MSNBC host Joy Reid wrote blog posts years ago that were anti-semitic, anti-homosexual, and anti-immigrant.
One of those three lost their TV show. Two of the three are by any measure on the liberal end of the political spectrum.
Coincidence? You decide.
