"You wouldn't have won if we'd beaten you." - Yogi Berra

I sometimes visit the Atlas Obscura website, a great place for learning about unusual things from around the world. Last night I read an article about the Moka pot, an Italian pot for making something akin to an espresso. Fascinating article that explained briefly the history of coffee in Italy and Europe, the background of the Moka pot, and the company that may be going out of business after over a century of producing it.
This morning, before our internet slows waaaay down (8 a.m.) I watched some You Tube videos about how to use a Moka pot. It's more work than I want to go through for one cup of coffee but it was an interesting topic to go explore, and for the coffee snob connoisseur it might be a worthwhile effort.

The walnut squares I made last night turned out looking good (I haven't tasted them yet. Having walnut squares at 5 a.m. seemed somehow inappropriate.) We'll take half the batch to small group tonight where this week we're responsible for dessert.

I may have said this before: I hate money. I hate that its abundance disorients people and that its lack causes such stress. I hate that so much good goes undone for want of money while crooks and charlatans trick people with good intentions out of money that should go for legitimate purposes. I hate that money can poison relationships and turn noble efforts into mercenary endeavors.
I hate money and though the Bible is silent on the matter (to my knowledge) I'm SURE there will be nothing of the sort in heaven.

We're just home from small group. We did a white elephant gift exchange between dinner and discussion and I came home with two pair of really good work gloves. Score!!

I've got to be out of here at about 5:00 in the morning.
G'night.
