"Diaper spelled backwards is repaid. Think about it." - Marshall McLuhan

Is it just me or is that graphic...ambiguous?

"Cherish those you have in your life because you never know when God will need them back."
That showed up this morning on my Facebook feed, posted by a guy who was a classmate at the Bible college we attended. He's also the son of a preacher.
Aaargh!
That may be more bad theology in one sentence than any sentence I've ever come across.
I understand and appreciate the sentiment; don't take for granted the presence of important people in your life. But from the word because onward that line is not just bogus, it borders on heretical.

I have some pretty amazing people in my life but none of them are so good that God needs them anywhere, never mind in heaven. What? God suddenly looks around and says, "Something is just not right here. This whole place is missing something. Oh! It's Jim! If he were only here this would be like...heaven!"
I don't think so.
Then there's the word "back." As in, we started out there, he sent us down here and then does a cosmic recall?? (see: Mormonism) Or that we're out of his presence and control when we're on earth so he draws us back into that realm??

Yes, this kind of sentimental nonsense drives me CRAZY! Words matter. Words - even on something as vacuous as Facebook - communicate, for good or evil. And when someone who should know better and who has some credibility with people puts something like that out for public consumption they should get a virtual slap upside the head.
No, I'm not going to give it to him. We haven't had any real contact since we both left college, so I'll leave it to someone who carries some weight with him.
But please people, for God's sake (yes, I mean that literally) think about what you're posting, especially if it has to do with eternal truths.

I saw one of these in action this morning. Crazy!! I'm all over it.
Rocketbook
Merry Christmas to me.

I led carols at a UFC seniors lunch today. Jaime played the piano and used an older hymnbook, which meant the keys hadn't been dropped like most more contemporary hymnbooks have done. Oh my.
When I was singing regularly I could hit a D above middle C fairly easily and push to an E.
Not any more! Ouch.

There's more than a little irony in a judges order that Stormy Daniels pay $297,000 in legal fees to President Trump. You won't find me cheering for the President and the way he conducts himself, and I suspect the allegations are true. But this wasn't ever about justice or anything close to it. Somebody got hoisted on their own petard.

It's rained pretty hard here for much of the afternoon. The hardest rain was between 3:30 and 4:00, the time I was taking Buddy on his walk and then feeding goats. I got soaked.

Pam's bringing dinner and then we'll watch some mindless TV. Maybe HGTV or the two-part Wuthering Heights program we recorded from PBS Sunday night. I have a 6 a.m. meeting tomorrow morning so it will be another early night.
Yeah, I'm feeling like I belonged at that senior's lunch. But in fairness I did do a pretty hard workout at the gym before coming home.

Hmmm
That sounds familiar.
