"Relax. We're all crazy. It's not a competition."

This morning at our weekly staff meeting I gave a very short report on the senior luncheon I'm responsible for next Tuesday. I mentioned that we were going to play a game where they have to identify the car brand by a pic of the hood ornament.
One of the younger gals asked what a hood ornament is.
Good grief.

It turns out being on the road for 17 hours and then going to work on 2 hours of sleep is not conducive to clear thinking or productivity. I worked on my slides for Sunday's class but I'm sure going to review them carefully...tomorrow!

Oh, and 17 hours of Diet Coke and corn chips will definitely do a number on the digestive track.
Or was it the McDonald's "hamburgers"?
+++++++++++

Thursday morning and I'm feeling almost back to normal. I hope that means I can get a full day's tasks done.
The coop is an embarrassing mess, though the barn isn't bad.
I'd like to get MoHo cleaned and ready for Pam's return Saturday afternoon.
I'll go over this afternoon to get Dolly, who is now prego, and Bear, who is still worthless.
At work this morning I should finish my slides for class Sunday and meet with Dave, the guy who's my "direct report." We have a number of things to go over - updates, planning, his approval for some tasks I've got on the schedule...
And his formal OK of the dates for my next trip to Brazil! Joe has asked if I can come back down in August and I am very eager to do so! Dave had said an August trip was fine, especially because it's such a slow month at UFC but I want to run the specific dates by him to make sure they don't interfere with anything.
Joe and I haven't talked yet about what I'll teach, so that will be fun, too. Figuring out topics and planning the course content.
Yeah, I'm pretty much a teacher on the inside.

Tonight I'm going to bake cinnamon rolls, only this time I've got a secret weapon!

My stay at Bruce and Debby's needs every superlative in the dictionary. She is an incredible cook and serves up gourmet meals the way you and I heat a can of Campbell's soup. "Yeah, I put in some (lists off a dozen ingredients), let it (lists of a four-step prep process), and that's about it.
Right.
Bruce is a craftsman in his TV-show equipped wood shop, could build a custom home out of used pallets, and nearly rivals Warren Buffet in his grasp of the economy. I'd add stunt pilot to that list except he sold his hot rod airplane.
And...best of all: they take their Christian life seriously and eagerly discuss the blessings and challenges of life as a believer.

OK, back to the cinnamon rolls.
I was telling Debby about my challenges getting the dough right and she told me about...
frozen bread dough from the grocery store! Why did I not know about this???
So yesterday I picked some up. When I get home from fetching does and dogs I'll thaw out a lump of it, make, bake, and ice rolls, and pretend I did it from scratch. (shhhh)
There's a philosophical question in here somewhere. Which would you rather: have something you made from scratch all by yourself or something that's good? I'm obviously opting for the latter.
Pragmatism over principle? Results over process? Sugar high over trash can?

It's now 4:30. I'm meeting with Travis at 7:00 on the other side of town and will need to leave here before 6:30 to get there in time. So I'm going to go out to the kitchen, fry up some BACON and eggs, and then vacuum and mop the kitchen floor. To classical music blasting from that channel on DishTV.
Let's get this DONE!
