Their team: The Poca Dots
They say the parts will be delivered Thursday so I should have the install done this weekend.
I wrote that above paragraph last night. I checked this morning and the parts left Roseburg for Eugene at 4 a.m. this morning after spending the night in Portland. I'm guessing someone threw them on the wrong truck and they did an extra 150 miles of traveling. The good news: they're now in Eugene and will be delivered "by end of day" today.
Sunday in class we'll do a quick intro to the book of Malachi. In 3:2 he says the Messiah is like a refiner's fire and like fuller's soap. Huh? So I did what all good Bible scholars, do - I Googled it.
Fascinating!
When wool is taken from the sheep it's dirty and has natural oils that make it coarse, rough, and also prohibit it from forming a tightly woven cloth. So they wash it, or fuller it. That's where we get the last name Fuller; it was someone whose livelihood came from washing wool. That person was also sometimes called a walker because the process involves walking on the wood as part of the washing process. Think something akin to stomping grapes and the agitator in your washing machine.
A soap is needed to clean the wood as it is agitated in the solution by walking on it. During the Middle Ages in Europe they used stale human urine as the "soap" because when it ages it changes chemically developing amonium salts which wash the impurities out of the wool.
You should watch this video. Ugh.
After washing, or fullering, the fabric is stretched on racks, called tenters, to dry. Hooks on the top and bottom of the tenters hold the wool. They're called tenterhooks. Hence, the expression "on tenterhooks" meant to be tense or under suspense. (I always thought it was tinderhooks.)
I'm guessing they didn't use that method in OT times. I don't see Malachi comparing the coming Messiah to stale urine.
At 10:30 I walked over to Harvest Bakery for my weekly cheat, one of their very good cinnamon rolls. I have my choice of icing or no, walnuts, and/or raisins. This morning was an added option: Marionberries.
What????
Oh my. We'll be trying this on Baker Rd.!! Delicious!
Alas, it gave me a big bellyache. I may start taking half of it home for later. Too much goodness for one sitting.
I just watched a big blue heron fly down the creek right outside MoHo. Very cool!
Someone on Facebook today wrote, "bare with me."
A total of nobody thinks that's a good idea.
Maybe "bear with me."
