I'm not sure why people have pygmy goats. We're watching Zoro and Dexter for a family on a vacation that includes a trip to Hawaii. They'll be gone three weeks and I wondered if taking care of two pygmy goats was going to be a hassle.
Nope.
They don't do anything except walk around browsing on what they find in our weaning pen. They've barely touched the first flake of the grass hay they brought over for these two. At least so far they don't make a sound, don't seem interested in interaction with either of us, and have the tiniest goat poop marbles.
At least cats catch mice.
The rear view camera for the truck arrived yesterday and this afternoon I spent an hour on installation. Unfortunately, it's about a 90 minute job.
I got the wires run from the rear license plate where the camera mounts, under the truck to the cab, and then inside the cab. At that point it started to rain pretty hard. Making the connections requires squatting down just outside the door to do the wiring under the dash, and I didn't feel like getting my backside soaked in the rain. I also have to climb back underneath the truck to zip-tie the wires in place. I'll finish it tomorrow. No worries.
Joe booked my flights for the Brazil trip. I fly from Portland to L.A., from there to Panama City, Panama, and from there to Recife. Leave on Wednesday and arrive on Friday morning, just after midnight. Those two long flights are both overnight, which means I can more easily sleep.
The return is the same route.
I had to turn in a prospectus of the Adult Ed classes I'll teach starting in September so they can have content for PR pieces. My lineup:
- The Stewardship Model (a paradigm for the Christian life)
- Salvation Terms
- Evangelism (Pastor Brett will teach this one)
- Imago Dei - meaning and implications
- Decision Making and the Will of God
- The Names of God
Just writing up the paragraph for each of those got me excited about the courses. Lots of prep to do but aside from the time pressure I enjoy that part of it, too.
MoHo has a 4" step up into the kitchen. Pam has done that thousands times since we moved here almost three years ago. Tonight she did 3.75" of that rise and landed on...her face. Nose bleed and an almost instant swelling and discoloration of her chin and lower lip. She also landed on her had and may have broken what CHT son Josh says is the metacarpal bone. (I had him call us.) He says she should ice it, but it's OK to wait until tomorrow to see how it is and if an X-ray is appropriate. Even at that just a splint would be the fix.
She FORBIDS me to post the picture I took of her face, so imagine my wife with a big purple lump on the lower right side of her face. Not a great look.
It could have been much worse, so we're thankful that in a week or six she'll be back to normal.
