I see dumb people.

Short post in the middle of a busy day. I got a short bike ride in very early this morning and then spent about 90 minutes working on the car. I got a new clutch return spring installed, did some detail cleaning and then painted the back end of the chassis with the rust encapsulator, which also acts as a black primer. I had hoped to have the chassis done by the time I leave for vacation next Wednesday but I don't think I'll make it; the front brakes will have to wait. Between now and then I'll get the new axle boots installed and the rear brakes, bearings and seals done. But weekend highs are supposed to hit 117, so working out in the garage may not happen, never mind 25 mile bike rides.

Went into town late morning and installed shelves in a laundry room and master closet. It took a little longer than I'd hoped, but there's a week-old baby in the house, so I also got to pay a pastoral visit on the newest member at Pathway.

We have an elder meeting tonight, which is why this is an early post. Beforehand I'm meeting Steve at a nearby Indian restaurant. Mmmmm.

With Roger Federer out at Wimbledon I'll be rooting for Andy Murray, the Scot. He's a very good tennis player but kind of a doofus-looking guy. Seriously. You gotta admit. He also has the stereotypical Scottish personality. Which is to say he doesn't have one.

His girlfriend (sorry, no pic) is drop-dead gorgeous. Which proves that if you make a lot of money playing tennis you have a definite advantage over, say, cello players.

That bit of sarcasm aside, we will celebrate our 40th anniversary in about a month. That's a long time. I looked it up and the traditional gift is a ruby and the modern gift is a garnet. Will a red M&M do the trick?

OK, I gotta take care of Jack before leaving for dinner. Pam won't be home until almost 8, and I'll be 9 or later. By then he'll have his legs crossed and that panicked look on his face if I don't get him outside before I go. While I'm gone, watch this:

  1. Cool! We're both celebrating 40's next month. = )

Congratulations! You should do at *least* a whole bag of M&M's, Mr. MacStingy. ; )
