" The trouble with her is that she lacks the power of conversation but not the power of speech." - George Bernard Shaw
Kate got caught with her top down. Romney got caught with his pants down. Both revealed more about them than they intended and both are in damage control. But it's too late. Nobody will look at either one of them the same again.
Moral of the story: Unless you're in the privacy of your own space (and maybe not even then), just assume somebody is watching and/or listening.
When we talked on the phone last night I asked Pam when the banana delivery is made. The bowl on the table where they sit is empty and I wondered when whoever delivers them would bring the next bunch. Turns out there is no banana delivery. I have to go to the grocery store and buy them.
I went to see Dr. Kaplan, the cardiologist, this morning for what could be described as my exit interview. I don't go back for another six months, first to see the dr. who put in the pacemaker and then Dr. Kaplan, who put in the stent.
I like Dr. Kaplan. He's good. Had it not been for his attentiveness to several factors we wouldn't know that my heart just stops on occasion and I wouldn't have a pacemaker. The next bike crash could have been fatal. Then there's the 90% blocked artery bit he caught and fixed.
He described my case as "very interesting" and said I "dodged a bullet."
Maybe so, but I had Help.
A Rhode Island school district has banned father-daughter and mother-son dances because they're discriminatory against boys and girls who don't have that parent present, and therefore can't attend the dance.
Came out from the gym this afternoon and the Rambler did that same thing - floods, won't start, runs horribly once I finally get it going....
Aaargh!
I was so sure I had the problem fixed.
It's clearly a fuel issue, something wrong with the mixture. But because it only happens when the car has been driven and then sitting for 45 minutes +/- it's really hard to diagnose and fix. Why, with the car up to temp, does the choke stick closed?
This really bugs me. It will keep me awake tonight.
I'm in first place in our fantasy league.
I have to point that out because it will surely change soon.
There's lots of buzz over a credit card sized piece of a papyrus that may suggest Jesus had a wife. The report made it onto at least two national news broadcasts this evening. Alas, very few TV's, even the latest LCD flat screen models, include a bogocity meter, leaving many viewers thinking there's a legit chance....
Lost in the splash is the fact that the papyrus dates to the 4th century A.D., or 300+ years after Christ lived. And it's written in Coptic, a language of Egypt, culturally a world away from Judea. The fragment contains only about six lines, meaning there's no broader context for the two or three sentences. Oh, and there is no earlier mention in any papyrus that Jesus was married.
It's the equivalent to finding half a page out of a book in Norway, written in Norwegian that mentions George Washington and uses the words "he said, my camel can...." and inferring from those few words that George owned camels.
Except that the Norwegian book, even if written yesterday, would be about 100 years to recent.
Good grief.

Why not install a manual choke cable to a knob under the dash? Pull out to close; push in to open.
John Nuiver. Michigan
John....I looked into that. The only conversion kit I can find is a "universal" from JC Whitney and that makes me nervous. And this crazy carb has the choke facing the firewall, so getting a cable to make a 90 degree turn will require some magic.
A you-can-probably-guess-who person in my life spent about 30 minutes the other day trying to convince me that Jesus had a wife from that headline release... good grief is right! How to respond???
