I know the voices aren't real, but they have some great ideas.
Typos in emails from the pastor. Aargh.
We're going to send boxes of God Fish crackers to our missionaries in Papau New Guinea.
Jesse Jackson Jr. resigns from Congress two weeks after getting re-elected.
Chicago politics.
I was surprised to learn that 70% of Americans take the standard deduction on their tax return while 30% itemize. I would have guessed the reverse.
I spent the first part of the morning getting a med test done. Weird.
Then I worked on stuff for Sunday.
After lunch I worked on the Rambler. After some research I learned there's a filter inside the fuel pump that is supposed to be changed every 12,000 miles. Figuring that hadn't been done, and hoping that it would make a difference on the car's persistent refusal to run after sitting for between 15 and 60 minutes, I climbed underneath and pulled said filter.
This is what I found. That's mud. And the metal bowl in which this filter sits was filled with more of the same. I cleaned out the bowl, put it back on sans any filter, and went for a drive. The car ran like a teenager! This is good!
Parked it in the garage and did some chores for 30 minutes, then came back to restart it. Or try to restart it. Nada!
Absolutely NO fuel coming out of the fuel pump.
So I've purchased an electric pump that I'll install tomorrow. There's only one explanation left: I'm getting a vapor lock inside, or very near the fuel pump. I'll mount the small electric fuel pump over on the fender well, away from the engine, bypassing this mechanical pump altogether.
Why vapor locks now when they clearly weren't a problem in 1966 (or thereafter)? A: Ethanol. The addition of ethanol to gas lowers the boiling point, apparently just low enough to cause a problem in a '66 Rambler with a mechanical pump mounted right next to the engine block.
If this doesn't fix it... I have no idea.
Pam works tomorrow afternoon and evening. No big deal. She gets time and a half, Josh & Aubri will go to her folks', and we'll do our family Thanksgiving Friday evening.
Three, count 'em, three football games on tomorrow. But the match ups look like they had the prophetic knowledge to intentionally picked dog teams.
Never mind. It's still football. And I'll be home alone.

if you need to raise the boiling point of your fuel due to the ethanol just add some sugar or salt...you are welcome. chemistry taught me good. hehe.
Ethanol free gas (essential for all small engines ) is available at marinas and select gas stations serving the boating community and using it might prove or disprove your theory. In Washington we can file for a tax refund on boat fuel purchased (probably not in AZ however).
