The Rambler is finally running again. The problem with the pump (as in, it didn't pump gas) kept me awake last night, but by 2:30 I had it figured out. Enough air had entered the lines that the pump's output of 7 psi max pressure wasn't enough to overcome the bubble, just compress it. So I opened the line up near the carb, heard a tell-tale "whooosh" of released pressure and tried again. It actually took a couple of those cycles but soon enough she was pushin' gas like a redneck after a chili festival. Then the challenge was to find a power supply for the thing. I ended up wiring it into the circuit for the E-brake light, but I've decided to add an in-line switch so it can be shut off if desired.
One in 175 million. Those are the chances of winning the current Power Ball lottery.
Assuming you buy a ticket, which I didn't.
We had our Thanksgiving last night. Steve & Michelle came over a little early and he helped me install the windshield in the VW. The last time we tried this the windshield cracked and I had to order this new one. But it's laminated (the old one wasn't) and therefore stronger. This one went in without a hitch.
Just as we were finishing that Josh & Aubri showed up with Megan and Caedon. A little after that we sat down to the classic Thanksgiving dinner. I'm not very good at taking pictures because I get too caught up in the moment, which is why I don't have any pics of Caedon. Sorry, bud!
Michelle has 7 weeks to go before their son makes his appearance. Having a kid is a lot harder now than it used to be. They have a ton of things they have to do and line up before Jan. 11. I'm not sure how we managed to keep the two boys alive past their first year, given the death-trap cribs, killer strollers and irresponsible actions like putting them down to sleep with a blanket.
Josh and Aubri keep busy with their house restoration, work, and their teaching roles at Crossfit Fury. Josh has a competition in two weeks that sounds like torture to me but he continues to excel at all things strength and agility related. Aubri could whoop me and not work up a sweat. They are both in outstanding physical condition because they work very hard at it.
Megan is all girl. She knows all the cool clothing stores and is never at a loss for words. But she's doing very, very well at her charter school where the standards are extremely high. Smart cookie!Caedon is all boy! (NO picture! Drat!) As soon as he's in the door he's over to the closet where the Legos are stored, and within five minutes had a helicopter to show me. If Megan is about talking Caedon is about doing. Action. And he got his parents' physical abilities. The first grader does pull-ups.
The cook did a great job and is in her glory with the family all around her. I had leftovers tonight and enjoyed the fixin's just as much. But mostly she's as good a wife, mother and grandmother anyone could imagine. I'm blessed.
