"I don't believe in astrology. I'm a Sagittarius and we're skeptical." - Arthur C. Clarke
Because our cell phones don't work at the Oregon place I called CenturyLink today to schedule the installation of a land line. One minute into the call the guy had launched his sales pitch for the satellite internet service they provide through Exede Internet. He went on and on through his script while I tried in vain to interrupt. Eventually he took a breath and I jumped in: "We already have internet through Dish."
"But what they probably didn't tell you...." and he was off again. I decided to start talking and not stop until he decided to hear me. It took longer than you'd think.
Eventually: "We've already signed up with Dish, the service is in place, we have a 2-year contract, and I have a busy day. Can we please just set up the land line?!"
Click.
Yep, he hung up on me.
The sale of the house was recorded today and the proceeds from the transaction wired into our account at Wells Fargo. We celebrated by eating dinner out at Chipotle. Yeah, we splurged.
We also got those Lowe's gift cards from the bonus points we'd earned, $650 worth.
But wait! There's more!
I had filled out a change of address form and got the USPS confirmation in today's mail. Included were discount cards for 10% off any purchase at Lowe's and at Best Buy.
Score!
I stopped in this morning to say goodbye to JoEllen. She's going to be out of town on a business trip when we have our Pathway gathering at Yogurtini the Thursday before we leave, so seeing her was a priority.
Sadness.
I'm a little surprised at people who are already lining up behind one or another of the Republican candidates, especially those without any track record in politics. I know too little about their positions, temperament, and priorities to advocate for any of them. (Notice that I said advocate for. I feel perfectly comfortable stepping away...way away...from some.)
The total number of VW TDI's affected by the emissions cheating is now up to 11 million worldwide.
Tomorrow's forecast: 109, a new record. Yeah, I'm really going to miss this.
Mostly I'll be glad to get to Oregon because the pressure will be off. I'm ready to ease up.
