"Marriage has no guarantees. If that's what you're looking for go live with a car battery." - Erma Bombeck

We arrived at Baker Rd. Monday afternoon. It's Wednesday morning (I think) and we're making progress, but sometimes it feels like we're going backward. When we walked into MoHo it was cold but reasonably clean and tidy. Four hours later it was filled with boxes making it hard to walk from one room to another. This morning most of the boxes are gone but there's stuff everywhere, and it's starting to drive me crazy. The six pieces of furniture we brought with us (not including the bed) are arranged in the living room, but that took four tries before we found a setup that may work. And every flat surface, including the floor, has things on it that need to go somewhere as soon as we figure out where that somewhere is.

We've had some issues. Because our cell phones don't work at the property I had Century Link install a land line before we arrived that, it turns out, didn't work when we arrived. I would have called right away to find out why but.... It had to wait until we were in town yesterday at noon, they came out at 3:00, and by 4:00 had found and fixed the problem.
My router wouldn't work, so the only way to get internet was to sit on the floor next to the modem with an HDMI cable between it and my computer. That meant Pam couldn't get on line, and without access to Facebook she was turning pale and her breathing was irregular and shallow. I'm not sure which of the several things I tried fixed it, but I'm not now sitting on the floor.

Before moving we got rid of a TON of stuff and still brought too much. Our first trash pickup is this morning and besides boxes of boxes it has clothes, kitchen utensils, and miscellany of all sorts that we don't have room for. Our new mantra is minimalism. How many coffee cups do we really need? Socks? Spatulas?
Even with this second round of reductions - and there's more to come - we'll have to get a storage unit for at least a few months. All the books and office stuff that will eventually go in Fred have to wait until I get that place gutted and rehabbed. My carpentry tools and equipment can't go in Barnette until I've built some shelves and cupboards - which will require those carpentry tools and equipment.
Yeah, logistics is a major issue right now.

The temp drops to the high 40's at night so MoHo is pretty chilly in the morning. There's an old wood stove sitting in the corner but it's a little scary and I'm afraid to use it until I know it's not going to burn the place down the first time my head is turned. So at the suggestion of a lady at the fire dept. I'm having a local stove shop come out and do an inspection and service for $150. That's pricey, but the safety issue is overriding, and assuming it's usable it will save big on the electric bill through the winter. Right now we have the heat off during the night and use the electric blanket. In the morning we turn the heat on long enough to get the place up to 60, and an hour or two later it's warmed up to near 70 outside. Soon we'll be in the mid-30's or low 40's overnight and only into the 50's during the day.

The truck hasn't left Phoenix yet. He hopes it will go out today and arrive the end of the week. In the meantime I've located and contacted a muffler shop with a good rep about 12 miles from us that will put an exhaust system on. He'll give me three or four options on routing, mufflers, etc. So I've arranged to have the truck dropped off there so the shop can do that, then I'll pick it up from them when it's done. That saves me having to shuttle it up there and back, and it gives me more time to get Barnette cleared out enough for it to get parked in there.
There's more truck news, but that can wait.

Right now (7:30 a.m.) I have to get the garbage and recycle up to the road for our regular Wed. pickup. I'm actually 30 minutes late but I wanted to wait until it was light so I don't break my neck.
Anybody seen our flashlights? I can't find them.
Then I'll make me some good C.R. coffee (story there, too), cook up some BACON and eggs, and watch some news. Pam's still asleep and will be until 10 if I don't wake her first.
We're pretty much exhausted.

P.S. I'd add pictures but if I take them with my phone I can't get them to the computer. And I haven't come across my camera yet.
