"You can be sincere and still be stupid." - Charles Kettering

Today was a pretty good day. Yeah, a few things didn't go like we wanted but we made progress on several fronts.

We're getting more things in their new place. I can't remember where that place is an hour later so I waste time looking for it, but so far I eventually either find it or figure out another way to get the job done.

We rented a 5'x5' storage unit and before returning the truck to Budget we took some stuff over there - almost all my books, some tools I won't need soon, pictures that won't fit on MoHo's walls, an area rug that will go in a rehabbed Fred....
So the truck is gone. No tears shed!

Todd stopped by after lunch. He lives up the road and has his own business doing all kinds of things, including grading work. The plan was for him to do some grading here this afternoon with his bobcat, but he asked if he could come back tomorrow. Apparently his morning job didn't go smoothly and set him back several hours. No problem.
I'll have before/after pics tomorrow night. This will make a big difference and set me up for spring projects, and he's doing the work at a great price.

I spent a couple of hours up on a ladder using my battery powered blower on a few years worth of fir tree needles and moss. I got one half done and then the battery died so I'll do the rest tomorrow before Saturday's rains arrive.
In the process I uncovered some sketchy spots on the roof where the skin has cracked. I got some wet patch at Lowe's this afternoon so that before those rains start I can smear a thick layer over those areas. Might not help but it couldn't hurt.

Our favorite part of the day was our first official visitor. OK, I suppose Jim, who lives in the next place up the road, was the first, but he just wanted to meet the new neighbors to make sure we aren't weirdoes.
This afternoon Sheila stopped by!
She was part of our Pathway family and is in Oregon because her family all lives here. Her MIL, too. Sheila could only stay for about 30 minutes but it was wonderful seeing a familiar face from the place formerly called home.
She asked me to take a picture of her standing in front of Fred (she loved Fred) with her phone so I did. Crazy me, I didn't think to do the same with my phone. I sent her an email asking for a copy of what she's got and I'll include it if/when she does.
Thanks for coming, Sheila!

The latest: my truck should show up Saturday morning. Jeff, the owner of Four Corners Transport, was the broker on the deal and when he found out things were messed up he got involved. Apparently he can post reviews of trucking firms that other brokers see, so when he makes noise things happen. And what really ticked him off (not his exact words) was when he got word from them that the truck had been delivered as scheduled last Monday.
I'm having the truck delivered to Junction City Muffler 15 miles up the road so Ken can put an exhaust system on. That will almost make it drivable. I've got a steering issue to figure out and the wipers don't work, but those shouldn't (!) be too problematic.

Turns out you have to pass a written test to get your driver's license in OR even if you had one in another state. I took a sample test online and failed.
Oops.

As good as it was to see Sheila we're both missing our favorite people. A lot.
