Prince died on the Queen's birthday. Coincidence?? I think not.
At least we found a way to get rid of the 24 hour coverage of Donald Trump.
Today on Baker Rd:
Gonna grow me some veggies,
And cook me some compost,
train up some Marion berries,
and raise some chickens.
Not pictured for the sake of those with a weak constitution...
- I'm gonna trap me some more mice in Fred's loft,
- and kill a whole bunch of carpenter ants who have built a nest somewhere inside Fred's back wall. I'm seeing their detritus on the top of the wainscot rail.
Yes, I spent all day working outside. If you look at that pic of the raised veggie beds you can see gravel surrounding some of them. I laid landscape cloth and wheelbarrowed excess gavel up from the drive, but didn't get enough of that cloth to finish the job. That's OK, though, because my back got tired of pushing loads of gravel up the hill to the garden.
It's supposed to rain pretty hard tonight and tomorrow morning which will help settle the topsoil in the beds and start the grass seed I spread on either side of the driveway.
It was a good day on Baker Rd.

Why the 'raised' gardens? They aren't tall enough to be at 'old person,' or wheelchair, height and your normal soil is like gold.
The soil north of Elmira is mostly clay, very good for fir and alder trees but not for veggies. It's so lush that I was surprised when I tried to dig holes, but I heard too many people say, "Oh, you live outside of Elmira..."
