"Are right and wrong convertible terms, dependent on popular opinion?" - William Lloyd Garrison
A great deal was made out of Trump's response during the campaign to the question: "If Hillary wins will you accept the results?" He refused to say yes, which the press and the Democrats jumped on as detrimental to the stability of our democracy and the confidence of the citizenry in our democratic process. How dare he?!
Since the election the Democrats have joined Jill Stein in challenging the results in three states. And they're now suggesting that Trump won because the Russians somehow hacked the system and, because they favor Trump, manipulated the outcome.
Anybody else see some hypocrisy here?
Another interesting dynamic here is that the CIA and the FBI seem to disagree as to whether the RNC was hacked. The FBI did an analysis and concluded there's no evidence they did. The CIA, which is not authorized to do investigations into domestic agencies or individuals says the Russians did hack the RNC along with the DNC. The CIA reasons that if both were hacked and only DNC data leaked it must mean the Russians were trying to tip it in Trump's favor. That conclusion fails if the FBI is correct and the Russians didn't or couldn't get into the RNC.
All of that said, any interference by the Russians in our system, including hacking the DNC, is serious and needs to be addressed in the strongest way.
If you were assigned to spend two hours in conversation with someone you didn't know and you could choose someone of the same sex or of the opposite sex, which would you choose? Why?
OK, there's a third reason I'm not a fan of the Christmas music that plays everywhere this time of year. Too much of it is done by artists who sing of Christ's coming and don't believe a word of it. They're just cashing in on the chance to sell an album.
And yes, I have the same problem with much gospel music, including country. (See how I graciously extended the term music to that genre?)
We sometimes watch Rick Steve's tour programs on PBS. Tonight's hour-long program was on Israel. It was very good, I enjoyed seeing things on the screen that I'd seen in person, and I thought he did an excellent job of balancing his comments on the three sides present in that land, mostly Jews and Arabs.
We've heard nothing from Marta. Does that mean her does are late? Knowing when they'll give birth is an estimate based on breeding date, but a doe spends a week in with a buck, so which of their whoopees resulted in fertilization? So we're not giving up hope that we'll get a baby goat very soon. But so far, nada.
