We got one of those official county notices in yesterday's mail sent to us because we live within the specified circumference of an application for a non-conforming building permit. Verizon wants to put up a cell phone tower about 1/2 mile from our house.
YAY!!!!
We're with AT&T, but we're still eager for this to happen. Carriers typically lease out space on their towers to other carriers to defray the cost, and even if they don't put up an AT&T antenna we figure to be near the end of our 2-year contract by the time the tower is up.
Everyone out here will be in favor of the tower because none of us have decent reception; we have none. Getting reception would allow us to drop our land line and save about $50 a month.
Yes please!!
It was interesting to see that this will be a "fir tower," with fake branches to make it look like a fir tree. Or, more accurately, like a cell tower trying to look like a fir tree.
I am so confused.
The hottest show in the country is the Broadway hip hop musical Hamilton, in which Alexander Hamilton and all the other major characters from that era in history are portrayed by non-Whites.
The British satirical TV show Urban Myths (about which I know nothing) has just cancelled an episode in which Michael Jackson was to be portrayed by a white guy.
Hmmmm.
The vet called this morning to say his microscope analysis of the fecal material he collected yesterday showed no coccidia. That's a little odd in that all goats have at least some all the time. It's when it multiplies too much too fast that they get scours. THAT suggests the Albon we gave them killed all of them. But they still have scours. ????
This morning at 6 a.m. Itzhak had some normal, goat marbles in his diaper, but it was a tease. By 10 a.m. it was back to mush. Meanwhile, Asante is all liquid all the time.
I have a wire mesh rack I attached to the side of their kennel pen that I put alfalfa hay in so that as nature tells them to transition to "solid" food it's available. I noticed this afternoon that it's almost all gone, and Pam said they were chewing on last night after I went to bed. Does that explain Itzhak's marbles this morning??
The vet says the next test goes to a lab and looks for cryptosporidia, another parasite. $45. He called back this evening to say that test also came back negative. The only other options include some kind of bacterial infection that requires an antibacterial med. I drive 3 hours up to Castle Rock Monday to pick up Stella and will stop at the vet's place in Philomath on my way to pick up that med unless they're both significantly better by then.
Stella is the 8 month old Boer doe I purchased on my way back from my folks' on Christmas Day. I have NO idea how I'm going to drive three hours with a pretty good sized goat in the back of a Kia Sorento but it will involve a layer of some pretty thick plastic. I'm hoping I can tie her to the seatbelt anchors or something so she doesn't join me up front.
Anybody else watching Midsummer Murders on PBS? It's another quirky British crime show, a genre they seem to like and do well.

I've been watching Midsommer Murders episodes. I find it different in that the main detective (Barnaby) has a life outside of his police work. He isn't obsessed with the investigations and doesn't work 24-7 to solve them. No crazy, intense moments and he goes home each night and leaves the work until the next day.
I also like the Australian crime shows - right now particularly Doctor Blake.
The British crime shows are understated compare to our all action, all the time crime dramas. And the humor is actually funny.
We just discovered Dr. Blake and are enjoying it.
