A dyslexic man walks into a bra.
I got out of the Kia dealership for the lowest possible amount. That's the good news. The bad news is that they charge $105.00 per hour with a one hour minimum.
We're all in the wrong line of work!
Years ago I added a hitch and wiring harness for trailer lights so we could pull the teardrop. The module that's part of that harness failed and that short caused the parking lights to stay on. It's a sealed unit so there's no fixing it and I don't want to spend the money to replace it. So I'll do what the service tech at the dealership did - pull the fuse when I don't need it and replace it when I'm pulling a trailer.
Which I'll be doing Saturday when I get a closed U-Haul to bring home the 4x8 sheets of FRB to finish the inside of the church shower trailer.
Yeah, I didn't know about FRB either; had to look it up. It's Fiberglass Reinforced Panels. It looks like a sheet of panelling but it's white and has fiberglass bits built into it that make it water resistant and therefore good in applications like bathrooms. Or shower trailers for homeless people.
Turns out cutting it is tricky because of those fiberglass fibers that dull blades and get airborne. Not good for the lungs. I'll wear the respirator I got for painting the truck, wear long sleeves, gloves, and goggles.
I asked on Facebook for suggestions to name the Mustang. Yeah, maybe it's corny, but we named the VW's (Ilsa and Gerta) and it was easier to say their name than, "I'm going to the store and taking the Volkswagen."
I got lots of suggestions, some that were very good. A couple of them I couldn't understand, including "Sally" from a former student and dear friend. It was only when someone else replied with a fuller identification that I understood.
Do you remember the great R&B song "Mustang Sally?"
Now I'm thinking I may need personalized plates.
I got a notice from Amazon.com today. Two of the Calaphon knives I got for Pam a few years ago are being recalled because they pose a risk of laceration.
What???
It seems the handle can break and cause the user to cut themselves.
I filled out the form so they'll send me a return kit in a couple of weeks. Once these two knives are returned to them they'll send new replacements. That's a clumsy way to get new sharp knives, and she'll be without them for about a month, but she says it's no big deal.
I got a new battery in Sally and scraped off the big "Mustang" decal on the top of the windshield. Saturday I'll pressure wash the engine (it's supposed to snow and rain all day tomorrow) and then set about doing things under the hood that will be a lot easier with a clean engine. The valve cover gasket needs to be replaced and I think the pan gasket does, too.
Rick loaded up the trunk with a bunch of parts he had ordered and not installed, so I went through those boxes, too. Wow! A veritable treasure trove of rubber seals and misc. interior parts that will be very nice to have when I'm putting things back together after a paint job.
I also started building a maternity ward onto the goat barn. When I built it I didn't know I needed a separate area for a doe when it comes time for her to give birth. She needs to be away from other goats before, during, and after kidding. It will be fairly easy to add another 8' section to one end with an interior partition that will have a half wall with a door. Sundae will arrive pregnant but won't give birth for another five months, so there's no hurry. But I need to level the area and the ground is soft because of all the rain we've had, so shovel work is easier now than it will be when (if) things dry out.
All of that to say Baker Rd. is a busy place. Cars, trucks, goats, trailers...lots to do. And I'm trying to be faithful to spend time each morning writing. It's easier to do that when it's FREEZING outside, too cold to do anything on the other projects.
As my friends in Costa Rica say, pura vida.
