"An inconvenience is an adventure wrongly considered." - Gilbert K. Chesterton
I feel so...relieved. Burden lifted. Onus discharged. (No, that's not a reference to antibiotic caused diarrhea.)
The trailer build is DONE.
It started as an empty shell with vinyl on the floor, white panels on the walls, and two side doors in addition to the standard double door in back. It also had two propane tanks mounted on the tongue and a small breaker panel for 110v electrical service.
I don't have any pics of the framing I did. I might have put one in a post a few weeks ago but can't find it now. That was the first step - putting in the 2x4 walls to create two shower spaces, one in front and one in back to line up with the side doors.
When I had that framing done it went off to the plumber, who installed the propane tankless water heater, installed the fiberglass shower stalls, and ran all the lines. Then it came back to me.
I covered the studs in drywall and then a vinyl shower board. All the edges and corners got aluminum angle iron, as did the wall/floor line. The recess got a bench that backs up to the shower unit on the other side. So they're basically mirrors of each other.
I installed a 110 v. LED light in the ceiling of each side which also has a vent and fan. I guess they'll install shower rods and curtains.
They asked me to put in a soft soap dispenser and I found those at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. Didn't know they made those for home use. Kinda cool. This one has three compartments with labels that can designate soap, shampoo, and conditioner.
Do homeless people use conditioner?
Also a shelf/hooks unit.
I think this whole thing might be nicer than what we have in MoHo.
The front wall has the water heater, electrical panel, and valves to control water flow. That needed a cover, but also access. We discussed whether that should be a wall-to-ceiling cover or just enough to cover the key parts, and decided on the latter. I'm not entirely thrilled with what I came up with and have offered to redo it if they want something else. I might redo this were it not for how long I've already had the trailer. I feel bad about the time it's taken to get this project done because of delays caused by trips to Seattle, goat issues, and tooth trouble.
But, it's DONE and I feel a real sense of relief. Next up: getting the truck read for listing. It's supposed to be cold and wet all week so that won't happen as quickly or easily as I'd like, but it will happen. Needs to.
