"I'll have a cafe mocha vodka Valium latte to go, please." - anon

Yeah, check out his shirt.

It's 5:30 a.m...
raining pigeons and penguins (has been all night), and I've already been up for two hours. Promises to be an interesting day.

I was in bed by 8:00 (which helps to explain getting up stupid early) because I was exhausted from a day of tension and developments. I started work on a goat stand (I'll explain later), then drove Sally 30 minutes north to talk to a guy about getting her painted at some point. Came home in time to watch the last 90 minutes of the truck's auction on BringATrailer.com.

We prayed for $12k and after extensions to the close time due to last minute bids it sold at $13k.
Wooooooooot!
Shortly after the auction's close I began corresponding with the buyer to arrange the transfer of funds and shipping. It looks like everything is coming together nicely and I think by the end of the day the arrival of a transporter will be the only part hanging.
Here's the buyer:

Yep, it's a flip. They guy who bought it owns Sassy Motorsports, located in Woodland Hills, CA, in zip code 91020 (sound familiar?). I can't decide if I'm bothered that someone bought low from me and will sell high, or complimented that my handiwork will end up on a lot between a Jag and a Bentley.
When I think about it, though, I remember that a) we sold it because we needed the money more than the truck, b) we prayed for $12k and got $13k, c) he paid a commission to BaT and will pay to have it shipped while I pad BaT $49 to put it in their auction, and d) I'm a capitalists, and that shoe fits both feet.
Mostly, we're thankful for God's blessing.

And in other good news, Lane County approved the conditional use Verizon applied for that will allow them to build a cell phone tower about 1/4 mile from our house as the crow flies. They'll still have to get building permits and do the actual construction, but this means that at some point relatively soon we'll be able to ditch the land line AND the internet via satellite we currently endure. (Painfully slow with no streaming.) That will be good for both the budget and our return to civilization.
I recently learned that cell phones can serve as routers and turn MoHo into a hot spot. Verizon now has unlimited data plans. I still have to do my research but I *think* I can get one of us an unlimited data plan (more expensive) and the other one a 2 mb plan (cheap) and we'll come out WAY ahead all around. Plus, Pandora!

It's now 6:30 p.m. and once again, I'm feeling whooped from the day's intensity. I left home about 7 a.m. for Starbucks to work on Sunday's message. I'm preaching at the chapel service at the Oregon State Penitentiary in Albany. I'd been there about an hour when things started to pop.

Ash, the buyer, sent a message that he'd lined up a transporter that might pick up the truck this afternoon. So I left right away to come home so the truck could be ready for loading. I needed to get some misc. pieces and parts together and put in the cab so he'd have them. Then I had to work the money transfer end of things. I'm not sure why, but instead of a direct wire transfer the buyer too a cashier's check to a Wells Fargo branch for deposit to my account. No problem, except it didn't show up when I logged into my account here. A few phone calls between banks got that sorted out and it was time to go back into town to get the signed-off title sent.

While there I bought a thumb drive and loaded all my restoration pics onto it so the next owner will have some documentation of what I did.
That process reminded me how much I did! Good grief, who takes on a project like that?

The transporter never did show up...or call. So the buyer and I are both hoping that happens early tomorrow. I'm eager to have it gone so I can get Sally in and start work on the steering and suspension.

Maybe it's old age. I don't mind a day's worth of physical work, but the mental pressure of (for me) high dollar deals involving transferring old trucks and money with someone I've never met in another state...that wears me out. I do much better with goats and chickens.

So I'm going to have a cup of coffee, some chocolate chip cookies Pam made, and head to bed.
