Weight an evangelist carries with God: one billigram

It's 8 p.m. and I'm sitting in the E concourse at the Portland airport. My flight for Chicago doesn't leave until 12:45 but we didn't want Pam driving home too late so I can sit here no problem. Free wifi, a good book, and options for sweet eats. It's all good.

When we left home at 3 p.m. it was 107 degrees on our back porch...in the shade. But the goats and chickens seemed to be handling it OK. By the time Pam gets home the night time cool down will have started, and tomorrow is only supposed to be 105.
Pam filled large zip lock bags with water and froze them. I put those mega-ice cubes in the goats' water buckets in hopes that will provide them some relief.

I got the bedroom paneling primed and ready for the color coat, a celery green Pam picked out. She'll get the paint while I'm gone so I can finish up that project when I get back.
The room already looks better just for having that dark brown paneling lightened up. Less like a cave.

Today I learned that there's no antonym for inculturation. I need one for my sermon.
Daniel resisted inculturation.

I knew about Little League, but recently learned about Babe Ruth-Cal Ripken Baseball, a very similar national program. One of the sons of a couple in our small group plays Babe Ruth ball and we went to a couple of his games. Fun.

Yesterday I had a conversation with the dad/grandad of the family across Baker Rd. from our place. Turns out their 10-year old plays short stop in Babe Ruth and made the Willamette Valley All-Star team. (He must be good.) That team beat all the other all-star teams in the region, including teams fro OR, WA, and BC, so they're now going to the Babe Ruth World Series in Indiana.
Turns out the team is flying together on the same flight to Chicago that I'm on.
Small world!

There's stuff in my head and you'd think having 4 hours to kill in an airport would be the perfect setting to exorcise it, but a) I've been working on hydration to help forestall any trouble on the flight and therefore need to make yet another bathroom run, and b) I want to get some dessert before shops start closing down for the night. So maybe tomorrow.

I get into Grand Rapids at 9:30 a.m. and have nothing the rest of the day, so it's not like I won't have time.
