Snagged from a friend's FB page.
Except that I do like Herm Edwards, the first year coach at ASU who coached in the NFL and was a color commentator on TV for awhile. Good guy with common sense, a work ethic, and no patience with prima donnas on the field or in the locker room. So I was pleased to see him get a big come-back win and ensure ASU goes to a bowl game.
Same at Notre Dame, only more. I've rooted against ND for years, but I'm a Chip Kelly fan. He coached at U of O and runs a high energy frenetic brand of football that's fun to watch. Two years ago ND went 4-8 and looked terrible. Normally that kind of performance at a school like ND would get a coach fired but they stuck with Kelly and this year they finished a perfect 12-0 and will probably end up in the playoffs.
But what's more impressive in my opinion is that no player on the ND team is on academic probation and they've had no disciplinary issues. That's what a Chip Kelly team looks like and that's why I'll root for ND in the post-season.
Two things about Buddy I have to keep in mind. First, to his way of thinking cats are for sport and good only for chasing. (I don't know what would happen if he ever caught one.) Second, he is ruled by his very sensitive nose which is in hyperdrive the moment I take him out the door. Cat One and Cat Two have learned to keep their distance but sometimes Cat One seems to enjoy teasing Buddy by walking across his path, knowing I've got him on a leash and won't let him take off in pursuit.
I walk Buddy for his morning constitutional about 4:30 each morning and my headlamp turns a cat's eyes into two tiny beads of light so that I can see them 30 yards away before Buddy is aware of them. I make sure I've got a good grip on the leash because he'll sniff them out in short order.
Around 6:30 I go out to feed the goats, cats, and chickens. The cats know this trip is made sans dog so they sometimes meet me on the back porch for scratches before we head to the barn. This morning they were there for some attention which I gave them, all the while listening to Buddy going slowly crazy on the other side of the door because he could smell them.
Crazy.
I think my bean bag game worked well this morning. They seemed to have fun with it even after the seam opened up and the rice started coming out as they tossed it around. But Pam has already repaired it so it's ready to go next time.
I want a different game for next week. Hmmm.

Chip Kelly is the head coach of UCLA (formerly of SF 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Oregon Ducks). Brian Kelly is the head coach of Notre Dame (he was the head coach of Grand Valley State and Central Michigan when you were in MI). So feel free to cheer against ND again! :)
You're right, and I realized that I'd confused the two a few hours after I published that post. Then I decided it wasn't worth going back and rewriting. (Shame on me.)
