"If you have ten thousand regulations you destroy all respect for the law." - Winston Chuchill

There used to be a street called Chuck Norris Ave. but they had to change the name.
Nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.
Happy birthday, Chuck Norris (b. 3/10/1940)

Class attendance was down this morning, as was church attendance. I don't get it.
Nobody could miss that they needed to change their clocks; it was all over the news. Except for the doofus who admitted to me he missed class because he moved his clock the wrong direction (seriously??) I can only assume that people decided not missing an an hour of sleep justified skipping church, and/or they decided going to bed an hour earlier and missing... what???... was a greater sacrifice than missing church.
Huh???

Alaska Airlines is reconfiguring the cabins of their fleet of planes. The upper tier of seats in the main cabin will get fold down cup holders on the seat back in front of them.
Two questions? First, why did it take so long for them to think of cup holders? The typical SUV has 13 of them. Second, why only the expensive seats? That almost seems like a nose thumbing "nyah, nyah" to the rest of us.

I realized about three miles into my drive to church this morning that I'd left my wallet on my bedside shelf. I felt paranoid the rest of the way in and all the way home, expecting that a cop could somehow see I didn't have my drivers' license. Or that I'd get in a fatal crash and they'd never figure out who I was. I'd be buried in an unmarked grave in a pauper's cemetery and Pam would never know what happened to me.
By the way, neither one of those happened.

Dave, our executive pastor, is in Viet Nam doing some exploratory work to see if an outreach ministry there is a good fit for our church. He's going to call me at some point tomorrow to give me an update on the staff meeting I missed last Wednesday. I'm eager to hear how it went and if he thinks we should move to the next step in the program development. I'm ready!!

They say we're going to get a lot of rain Tuesday but that the rest of the week will be dry and several days of sun. The best part: temps in the upper 50s, a place we haven't been for months. The plan is to take advantage of that weather to get Sally's interior done. She'll be out of commission for a couple of days because I have to take seats out to put carpet in and change the shift console. I work until noon and all of that is more than I can get done in three hours - all the time I have after I get home from the gym and before I have to feed animals.

Here's a pic of the old stove and the new one. Pam's happy. And we learned that the new oven is actually at the temp it says.
It also had an oven that can be used like a regular oven but also has a fan so it can function like a convection oven.

How easily does that glass surface scratch? Do our cast iron skillets post a risk? I looked online and some sites say "Do NOT use cast iron skillets on glass top surfaces" and others say it's perfectly OK so long as you don't drop it (doh) or drag it across the surface.
I read about a thing called a heat diffuser but it seems to be intended primarily for gas stoves where the flame is small relative to the size of the pot.
I also read that glass top stoves have a built-in safety device that shuts off the element if the temp rises too high and that cast iron skillets can reflect back enough heat to trip that device.
So I'm going to use our 9" cast iron skillet tomorrow morning for my eggs and BACON, use reasonable caution, and assume if it was a no-brainer no-no there would be agreement that it was a bad idea.

It's sunny and 50 degrees at 3:30. I'm going to take Buddy for a longer walk than usual to take advantage of this blessing, feed the goats, and then do some little tasks outside before dinner.
