I waited a bit too long to go for my run. It was 83 when I got back at 1 p.m and I was soaked. In AZ with its temp at 103 I think I would have felt better. They had 11% humidity while we're at 43%.
We have three vehicles - Pam's Blazer, the truck, and Sally. The only one without a glowing "check engine" light doesn't have a check engine light. It's also older than the other two put together.
Dang computers.
Again, I don't like the guy At. All. But he could cure cancer AND achieve peace in the Middle East and the media would suggest it was all an illusion while the House would subpoena his library card.
We have the lowest unemployment in 50 years, no daily casualty reports from the battlefields, and Mexico has agreed to police their southern border.
The last guy to sit behind that desk....
Pam: "I want you to try this new loaf I made. It's gluten free. If it's good I'll make some for ________'s birthday."
Me, after a few bites: "It's definitely edible."
At 7 p.m. it's only 85 in MoHo, ten degrees cooler than it was 24 hours ago. Muuuch better. We'll only hit 79 tomorrow - a perfect summer day.
Why am I suddenly getting ads in my Facebook feed for fancy speedboats? I can't afford a rowboat and wouldn't know what to do with it if I had one.
I've got big plans for tomorrow. I'll start early and before I'm done for the day I WILL have the coop and barn cleaned, the kidding stall ready for Dolly's Monday due date, a bale of grass hay fetched from the feed store, and at least one coat of red paint on Sally's back half.
If there's time I'll get the front bumper off, which will allow me to remove the front fenders and prep them for paint.
I'm getting closer.
Getting the kidding stall ready means having the supply of towels ready, scissors and a jar of iodine at hand, and a stump for me to sit on while I wait. From beginning of labor to delivery can take an hour or more, and then often 30 minutes between kids if there's more than one.
It's sort of like when we packed Pam's bag for the hospital prior to the boys' births.
I can't do the Scandia Run this year because it falls on one of the weekends I'll be in Brazil. I've used that as a gauge of my fitness as I compare my 5k times from each year.
July 4th is the "Butte to Butte" run in Eugene and it includes a 5k. That's 6 weeks earlier than the Scandia Run and I won't be as ready, but it will give me something.
I'm also targeting one of three half marathons in the fall, two in September and one in October.
The rainy season here is so long that I want to make the most of our outdoor weather.
I went to Harvest Bakery this morning for my weekly cheat, one of their very good cinnamon rolls. (I prefer them to Dizzy's, but theirs are also very good.) I had my choice of plain, with raisins, and/or walnuts, and/or berries.
"But none of them have icing."
She said, "I can take care of that."
I chose one with raisins so she took it off the pan and placed it on a small metal tray with a piece of wax paper as a sort of liner. Then she took a squeeze bottle like we used on camping trips for catsup or mustard.
Yep, it was full of icing. She turned it upside down and went back and forth over my cinnamon roll until it had a picture perfect drizzle of icing.
Why didn't I know about this??!! I've been making icing and putting it on my cinnamon rolls with a butter knife, all smeared around.
Now I'm thinking I should have one of these on hand for all sorts of baked goods.
BACON!!! Iced BACON!
