"An economist is a man who states the obvious in terms of the incomprehensible." - Alfred Knopf

The bad news is I can spell arrhythmia without help from spell check.
On a related note, I'm learning how necessary it is to stay on top of one's medical treatment. Some kind of a communication problem between the cardiologist and the pharmacy almost had me taking two brands of the same medication, with potentially serious outcomes. Had I not asked....

I like that a Black 16-year old girl won the women's all-around in gymnastics. What Tiger Woods did for golf Gabby Douglas will do for gymnastics, raising its profile in the Black community and encouraging Black children to get involved in that sport.

You'll enjoy this 30-second spot. Language is no barrier.

We needed a new microphone cable for church. Normally I would order that from Musician's Friend but Steve suggested Sweetwater, so I used their website to order it. Not only was the price surprising, but when I opened the box today there was candy inside along with the cable! Pretty cool.

I made a decision earlier today. I blocked feeds from one of my "friends" on Facebook. I think I'm going to do more of that in the near future, especially as we continue through what the pundits call silly season.
I like Facebook a lot because so many of my friends live way far away. People from churches we served, former students now living all over the world, family members.... I get to keep in contact with them by reading their posts. Sometimes it's pretty mundane stuff, but it makes me feel connected with them. From time to time some of them express opinions on current events, and I enjoy reading those, too.
But some people use Facebook to beat and berate. I see their name and know what's coming in their post - a scorching denunciation of a public figure or a group of people. Sometimes I share their viewpoint, but their tone is consistently mean spirited. The notion of civil discourse isn't part of their thinking.
I don't want that in my daily experience. Will not, should not abide it.
In fact, a few weeks ago I called someone out via a comment to their Facebook post for what was, IMO, a very inappropriate and disrespectful comment about President Obama. I got flamed in response - by his wife.
I chuckled.

I did something else I've never done before, even earlier than my Facebook delete.
I deleted last night's blog post.
I often have trouble sleeping. I wake up, and before I can stop it my mind is working on one thing or another - or six - and getting back to sleep just isn't going to happen anytime soon. It happened last night about 2 a.m., and my brain started thinking back to what I'd written and posted several hours earlier. By 2:30 I'd deleted it.
My apologies to any who read it between me hitting "Publish" and then "Delete."
It wasn't mean spirited, or even uncivil. And I don't think I wrote anything I don't still think 24 hours later. It just felt wrong, inappropriate at some level. Certainly not constructive.
Gone.
Wish I'd never hit "Publish," but as soon as I hit "Delete" I felt better about it.

Don't you wish we had a "Delete" button for all of life? That we could pick something we said, or did - maybe a whole episode - and just erase it from existence?!

Nor here. But since I don't live in a cave (and thought you didn't either....)

I think you've developed what medical experts call a "late onset filter" - a medical condition rare to MacDonald men
