"Golf is played by 20 million mature American men whose wives think they are out having fun." - Jim Bishop
We hit 80 here today.
I read in local news that last week's Barrett-Jackson auction had 300,000 attendees and sold over $113 million worth of cars. Besides a flat fee for every car entered in the auction they make 15% from each sale - 10% from the buyer and 5% from the seller. Add to that gate revenue, vendors' fees, B-J merchandise.... It's a profitable business.
I took some time this afternoon to bathe the Falcon. I'd been neglecting her for the VW lately so we needed to spend a little quality time together. She's now all spiffy on the outside, right down to some tire black to make her shoes shine. The inside still needs attention but she did seem to run with a little extra zip on the way to the gym and back this afternoon.
"Gym this afternoon" = I think the worst of this cold is in the rear view mirror. I'm not nearly as blubbery and have more energy. This 7-day cold only lasted about four.
Bill Gates has predicted that there will be almost no poor countries by 2035. That would be terrific. I just don't think it's gonna happen. A long time ago Someone I think very highly of said, "For you always have the poor with you" (Matt. 26:11). But hey, if Bill Gates says so.... He is, after all, Mr. Microsoft, and they're pretty good at control. Or is that control/alt/delete?
Today was busy, with lots of brain work. Translation day, coffee with a couple from church, reading, cogitating.... but frankly none of it makes for blog fodder.
To make up for that, go take
The world's smallest political quiz.
I came out a centrist.

I think Mr. Gates predicted no poor "countries" meaning the distribution of technology would help even the potential each country can provide. I think he knows individual poverty cannot be prevented.
Agreed. "There will be poor people in every region."
I expressed myself poorly. His point is that most countries will be self-sufficient by 2035, and I used that (poorly) to remind us that there will always be the poor among us who need a continuing response.
