"You cannot step into the same river twice." - Heraclitus
I'm pretty sure that quote up there says something profound, I just have no idea what it is.
Moon phase, bio-rhythms, or the price of soybeans on the common market - I don't know what was out of whack but today won't go down as productive or particularly pleasant. It happens, and the best solution is a good night's sleep. Well, that and bacon.
I had a lengthy phone conversation this morning with an academic who is in charge of selecting faculty to teach in my alma mater's online classes. At one point he was recounting my CV (I'm not sure why, 'cause I already know it) and he included, "...your published...." It reminded me of how much stock the academic world puts on that single item. Some very good teachers can't write worth a lick, and some good writers can't hold students' attention past their first sentence. Hey, I've encountered professors who were bad at both. But for some reason "published" puts you a notch or two above someone who may be ten times the classroom communicator.
Nonsense.
I drove the VW down to Steve with the generator light either ON or flickering almost the whole way. He used his professional-grade meter to check things out and everything passed with flying colors. His advice: ignore the light. OK.
There's a car show on the 15th of next month and I entered the VW. Only cost $20. I don't expect to win a trophy, in part because their divisions are weird. Most of the categories aren't favorable to a 60's car that was at the bottom of the cost ladder at the time and as ubiquitous as any car ever made. But it's a small show, so there's always a chance for something. Soon I'll begin detailing the car, going over every inch of it to make sure it's as correct and spiffy as possible.
Say it ain't so!
The Captain and Tennille are getting divorced after 39 years of marriage. I guess love couldn't keep them together.
This is shameful. I'm assuming they've all been neutered.
In our series from Philippians we've reached the last section in chapter three. This one's going to be a challenge.
Do I name names?

re. the quote: You can go back and try to recreate some experience, but it'll never be exactly the same.
