I smiled this morning at this line from my current read about the writer's aunt:
"She was so bowlegged she couldn't catch a pig in an alley."
As I type this it's not yet 7 p.m. Don't tell my body that because it's sure we're well past 11:00. Part of that's because I've been up and working since 2:30. Yeah, I know that's stupid, but you can't force yourself to sleep. Getting my brain to put together anything coherent ain't gonna happen, so here's a pictorial summary of my day.
I spent the time before Pam got up at 5 a.m. working on my sermon. You'll have to figure out what this pic has to do with that.
After b'fast I took Pam to work. That was a little before 8:00 when her Friday shift begins. I went from there to Starbucks where I had a grande skinny peppermint mocha. But mostly I got my preaching calendar set through July. Pending, of course, the interruptions that sometimes happen because of unforeseen events.
About 10:00 I headed out to Waddell, 20 miles west, where Lyle & Shirley live and (again) borrowed his trailer. I was already halfway there by virtue of taking Pam to work and then working at the Starbucks across the street.
Came home and got to work building the dolly that will hold the truck cab. I'd already purchased the wood and hardware except for the additional eight carriage bolts and nuts I had to get from the hardware store. I'm not sure it will fit the cab because I forgot to take measurements before it went off to the blaster. So these dimensions are based on the frame dimensions where the cab sits. If it doesn't fit I've got a Sawsall. With a 20 minute break for lunch I got the dolly done about 2:00. Just before that the guy from The Stripping Shop called to say the truck body was done and ready to be picked up. I was at his shop by 3:00 and we loaded all the pieces onto Lyle's trailer.
The news isn't as good as I'd hoped. As you may be able to see from these pics (click to enlarge) there's a fair amount of bondo that will have to be ground off and then resurfaced. But the biggest problem is the three spots with rust-through. I was NOT planning on that! Not sure how I'll deal with the issue, but my brain is way past working that problem tonight. Nothing is going to change before tomorrow...or the next day. The next step is to get all the pieces off the trailer and into the garage, the bed and cab on their dollies. And that won't happen until Sunday night when the kids come to help.OK, I need more food, then BED.
