If you want to call a family meeting, turn off the wi-fi router and wait in the room where it's located.

Yeah, Sunday night. Uff-dah.

The said we'd get up to 1/2" of rain today and at our house we got...nary a drop. But they promise we'll get a drenching tomorrow. Forgive me for skepticism.

Two of my friends/colleagues had very difficult mornings. One got a call a few hours before their services that a well known woman in the church died suddenly and very unexpectedly yesterday afternoon. She was the mother-in-law of the other pastor.

I, on the other hand, had some special fun. I wrote here last week about Evan, the 9-year old son of John & Nichole McCure, and their efforts to raise the $17,500 necessary to get him a service dog. They're two weeks into it and have about $6,000. This morning I interviewed John & Nichole about how the dog would help Evan and then surprised them with a check from the church for $3,500.
The people are the best part, and working together to take care of each other - especially our kids - is the best part of the best part.

On Thursday, the 18th, citizens of Scotland will vote on a referendum to become an independent country, breaking away from Great Britain. Two weeks ago most thought it would fail, but the last few days polls show a swing toward secession. And now London says the Scots can have more self-determination if they'll vote no.
Somebody's getting nervous.
Others are dressing up like Mel Gibson and painting half their face blue.

I *hope* to get my engine back on Wednesday. So I've decided to front-load my week and work tomorrow (I usually try to avoid church-related tasks on Mondays) so I can take some extra time at the end of the week to begin assembly. After four months of mostly doing tear-down I'm eager to make serious progress on getting things back together.

I really like seeing the Dallas Cowboys getting a whoopin' but I have mixed feelings when it happens at the hand of an NFC team that can (and probably will) keep the AZ Cardinals out of the playoffs.

Two impulses drive my Sunday nights - hunger and fatigue. I'm awake because I'm eating. Five minutes after my stomach signals the all-clear my body will be in la-la land.
