"Truth will always be truth, regardless of lack of understanding, disbelief, or ignorance." - W. Clement Stone

This morning I sat in the indie coffee shop I frequent sketching out my sermon and doing some of the more mechanical tasks associated with Sunday's efforts. I'd been there about 20 minutes when some early teens came in. Two boys (9th grade?) from one door and two girls (sisters) from the other. The younger of the two girls soon sat down with the two boys and the older girl (11th grade or so) sat at an adjacent table. They were still there when I left two hours later, but the older girl had been joined by a friend who looked to be the same age.

Oh my. What a fascinating study in adolescence. Physical and social clumsiness, sibling dynamics, appearance-based stratification....
I've never been so thankful to be old. What a terrible thing, to be a teenager.

One of the two teeth to get the first half of yesterday's root canal procedure is very sensitive to pressure. Normal effects of the procedure, or an indication that something still isn't right in there? Only time will tell, and the holiday break means I'm going to deal with whatever it is until Friday at least.

The final numbers on the govt. bailout of the auto industry are in and the bottom line shows $9.26 billion. And that's considered good news.

We're "bracing for a storm" here - the weather guy's words. It's going to rain and we may get as much as .15" tomorrow. Yeah, we'd better brace ourselves or we might get...damp.

I'm going to use Bob Dylan's "Gotta Serve Somebody" in my sermon Sunday. I did some reading on the song's background and learned that John Lenon didn't like it much. His assessment: "The backing was mediocre by Jerry Wexler, the singing was really pathetic, and the words were just embarrassing." In response he wrote, "Serve Yourself," the lyrics to which are not something that belong in my blog. If you want to see them do your own Google search. I'll just say they are the epitome of humanistic hedonism and mock any and all religion.
