"When God sneezed I didn't know what to say." - Henny Youngman

My daughter had this on her Facebook page.

OK, let's get the obvious stuff out of the way:

  • The Supreme Court ruling came as no surprise given their ruling six months ago, but it's still disappointing. I agree with Scalia that this should be decided by the people, not the courts. If polling is accurate the outcome would probably be the same, but democracy would be preserved.
  • The President spoke and "sang" at the service for Rev. Pinckney. I had been listening to my "Traditional Gospel" Pandora station earlier in the morning while I worked on the flooring and trust me, the President wouldn't make the first cut in the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir. And his "preaching" on grace and religious freedom was embarrassing given his health care program and its impositions on those with religious objections to portions of that program.
  • The flap over the Confederate flag has moved into ridiculous territory. Now they're talking about removing two of the stained glass windows at the National Cathedral because each contains an image of the flag. They were installed in 1953 and honor two Civil War generals, Stonewall Jackson and Robt. E. Lee.
I ate breakfast, went for a bike ride, and then worked on the truck for two hours. By 10 a.m. I couldn't bear the heat anymore; it was already over 100 in the garage and even with the fan blowing right on me it got to be too much.
I'm working on getting the fender off and am almost there. It's still hung up at a couple of points I have yet to identify, bolts that are holding it in place. I'm hoping that getting the fender off so it can be repositioned and having the hinges loose on both sides (I did that first) will solve my problem. If not...the grinder. But I really don't want to go there.

From the garage to the guest room. I started laying down the laminate and by 4:00 had all but the last strip done. That's the toughest to do because I have to rip it to width and make the cutouts for the doors. I have the first of those three boards all but done so I'll wrap it up in the morning and then run up to Home Depot to get the shoe molding to go all the way around the room. Once that's painted and installed and the furniture back in the room this project will be DONE.

It feels really weird to not have a sermon percolating in my head for delivery Sunday. I'm supposed to be growing more tense as Sunday morning nears.
With Pam in Michigan visiting her mom I'm on my own for where to go to church. Haven't decided yet. Hmmm.

The one that's labeled "this" showed up on our dashboard awhile back, so I called Mike. He asked me to describe it, and I said, "Umm...it's a picture of something that looks sort of mechanical."
