"A good husband makes a good wife." - John Florio
NFL TV viewership is down 9% compared to last year. The Saturday morning sports guy on NPR was asked by the Weekend Edition host if that was due to some of the distractions related to the league. The guy agreed and then cited injuries to some of the NFL's marque players, some of the top tier teams doing poorly, and sexual harassment claims against players and announcers.
He made no mention of the anthem protests. That omission was too obvious and I took it to be a dismissal of the legitimacy of fans' negative reaction to the players involved.
I'm guessing that if they conducted a survey the anthem protests would be the largest factor by a wide margin.
I've intentionally avoided watching any portion of any NFL game since players started kneeling during the anthem. It is certainly their right to protest and my right in a free market system to ignore their product.
We got into the mid-40's today, the warmest temps we've had for about 10 days. I found it too oppressive to run in low-30's temps and took the week off. If it's not blasphemy to paraphrase, running was made for the old man, not the old man for running. But after seven days of too much eating and not enough exercise I was back on the road this afternoon for an easy-paced 4 miles.
I'm afraid of what I'll see tomorrow morning when I step on the scale for my weekly weigh-in.
This afternoon I pulled the passenger bucket seat out of Sally. When I bought the car Rick included some spares he had, including new upholstery for the passenger seat that he never got installed (he'd done the driver's seat already, and it looks good).
The seat with its old upholstery and the new kit are both now in the extra bedroom (think large walk-in closet) getting warmer than they would be outside. I learned when doing the VW's that warm vinyl is a lot easier to work with. I have no instructions so I'm hoping that when I remove the old pieces I'll be able to figure out how the new stuff goes on.
I'll also search YouTube when we're at Starbucks tomorrow to see if somebody has made a video of the process.
Earlier today I ordered a new fiberboard "package tray," which is what they call the rear deck surface behind the back seat. That area typically gets thrashed by the sun shining in the rear window and got covered by - in this case - some aqua colored fake fur.
I'll spray paint the fiberboard the (stock) flat black after cutting holes in it for speakers.
My next project is installing a working radio in Sally. Hence the rear deck speakers. I'll also put a couple of speakers in the front kick panels. The head unit will get installed under the dash so the stock unit (an A.M. radio) can stay in place for cosmetic purposes.
Showing Sally some love.
