"A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing." - George Bernard Shaw

Today,

...I learned that Under Armour, the company that makes all kinds of sports apparel, makes running shoes with a computer chip built into the shoe that communicates with the Map My Run app on a cell phone and automatically feeds that app info as you run. You don't even have to run with your phone because it will store the data and download it to your phone when you get home. Goodness!

...And that the news magazine program "Full Measure with Sharyl Attkisson" isn't the biased agenda-based program I thought it was. I've never watched it because I figured she was coming at everything from one end of the political spectrum. Turns out she's a legit journalist with a whole box of awards for investigative journalism, including several Emmys. I may have to watch that show.

...And that I want to see (in person or on screen) the Verdi opera Nabucco. It's Verdi's dramatized telling of the story of Nebuchadnezzar. I heard "The Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves" played on the radio this afternoon, recognized it (you probably would, too), and went home to read about the opera.

...Got angry that Bowe Bergdahl escaped any prison time. This is a pic of Master Sgt. Mark Allen who was shot in the head while searching for Bergdahl who had deserted his post. Allen can't walk or speak.

The Obama administration traded 10 terrorists to ISIS to get Bergdahl back.

President Trump said publicly that Bergdahl should be executed which, because he's Commander In Chief, constitutes improper interference by a superior officer according to military law. The judge refused to dismiss the charges because of that, but said he would consider it as a mitigating factor in sentencing.

We don't know if that's why Bergdahl didn't get any prison time, never mind the life sentence his crime could have brought.

...Sent emails to the three guys I'm asking to be content readers for my manuscript. If they say yes I'll send it to them in digital or hard copy, their choice, and hold my breath to receive their feedback. Having the draft done is a major step in what has, to this point, taken two years. I think we're another year out from holding a book in my hand. Still lots of work to be done.

...Watched "Midsommer Murders" with Pam while we ate lunch. It's one of the BBC "crime" shows we record from our PBS channel, and one of our favorites. It's engaging, just complex enough to engage the brain, just enough humor to keep it light....
Look for it.

...ate brownies Pam made while I ran errands in town. Went very well with the day's last cup of coffee.
