"I believe in luck. How else can you explain the success of those you dislike?" - Bobby Knight
Maybe it's age, but I find myself deciding some things just aren't worth caring about. I've limited space inside me for what seem like superfluous details, so unless someone I care about is seriously embarrassed I'm going to do what's easy.
Black dress socks with my workout shorts at the gym? I don't care.
Shirt tucked in instead of out? I don't care.
Hair not perfectly coiffed with all cowlicks tamed? I don't care.
Note the theme. At my age any grip on fashion is a slippery thing.
If I was at the gym with my kids or grands I'd probably wear ankle socks. Probably.
I didn't get the third window installed this afternoon but I did get a coat of paint on the five windows I trimmed out over the last few days. The trim boards came primed but I think I'll still put a second coat of paint on them. The rain starts sometime late tomorrow so I don't know if I'll get anything done tomorrow afternoon. The church offices are closed on Fridays but we're going to get RAIN all day.
For the first part of my pastor gig I dreamed of having a church large enough for multiple staff. Truth: my youthful ego wanted to be a senior pastor and be the main man.
Working at UFC confirms what I came to realize in the second half of my ministry: big ain't necessarily better.
I really do think UFC is a very good church doing a very good job at representing Christ to the community and ministering to believers. But I have come to realize that complexity grows in proportion to size. UFC is committed to simplicity and they do as good a job with that as possible with any group over six people. I'm not used to the extra steps required to move...any direction.
The Blazer is driving me crazy. The not-so-humorous question is: "What broke today?"
Today we got a 2-fer. Somehow the right side hinge pin on the rear hatch window came out because the clip that held the pin in the hinge went AWOL.
The front passenger side door lock has failed.
I'll work on getting another C clip so the hinge pin doesn't come out again lest we lose the rear window. And this weekend I'll take off the door card to see why the lock mechanism is dead.
Then there's this.
50 miles from us.
